Wind damage doesn't always leak right away. A shingle that's been lifted and creased can look fine from the street and still let water in the next time it rains hard. That's why a quick check after a big storm is worth five minutes.
From the ground, look for shingles in the yard, dark patches on the roof where shingles are missing, and edges or ridge caps that look lifted. Check around chimneys, skylights, and vents for anything bent or out of place, and look at your gutters for dents, sagging, or sections that pulled loose.
Inside, check the ceilings on the top floor and, if you can do it safely, the attic. Water stains, damp insulation, or daylight showing through the roof deck all point to damage that needs attention.
If you spot anything, call before the next storm makes it worse. L&J Roofing repairs storm-damaged roofs and gutters across Akron, Canton, Medina, and Northeast Ohio, starting with a free written estimate.
